A number of fans began throwing beer cans after Gordon won the race under caution, passing the late Dale Earnhardt -- a Talladega favorite -- in career wins.

Safety. They are throwing stuff out on the track with the car, driver oh.. and other fans around. Drunks don't have good aim and can hit other then what they are trying to. How can a fan 30 rows back throw a half full beer can and not hit rows 29-1 with beer? regardless of law and rules, its just rude as well.

The big deal is some of these drunks could hurt some child really bad or anybody else if a can of beer hits them in the head(think about it) also look how much money goes into those cars etc-Just like Dale Jr said " dont hit my car with a can of beer" " if you want to hit somebodies car then go out into the parking lot and hit your own"

I wondered that too...I don't see how they could be unless the start checking the ID of every person that enters...and if the people who are banned buy tickets from a 3rd party, there will be no way of knowing if they are there or not. Even if mugshots were taken, they can shave their head, grown their hair longer and grow a beard so that they "can't be identified" by looks alone. The crowd is so large at these races, I think they'd have a hard time enforcing the ban. Sounds good on paper though.

Well Kriicket if they buy their tickets through an outside company and then pick up their tickets their ID will have to be shown. That is one way they could check ID's. Another way is when all adults come in and they are going to drink they would have to show their ID. Then they would get a wrist band telling all (bartenders)beer sellers that the wrist band they are looking at say's the person can drink legally. Now with them checking ID's like that it would be a way for them to catch the guest that is no longer welcomed.
It is really not hard to do this. With ID scanners out there that can be programed with a guests name that is not allowed at the event will show up on the screen. This happens all the time and more and more places will have these scanners. We are in a gadget age where we are all on a data base somewhere. This has been going on for decades. To catch the unwanted guest is easy. Not everyone likes it that their ID's are scanned but almost everyone does it. now, or a

well, this is true...after all, if they can do it at the Super Bowl, I guess they can do it anywhere. I remember the first race I went to was at the Bristol track...my husband bought our tickets from a man he works with...but no one was checking ID's...only coolers.

The dipsh*ts who throw anything on a race track are just showing their ignorance and with the technology that is available today, none should be allowed in another sporting event period. Harsh? Yep. But considering the injuries that could occur, it is an unacceptable occurrence.

If it were up to me, I'd have those dipsh!ts in the middle of the track and have the fans throw debris on them...see how they like it!

No...
I would force them to assist in track rescue and cleanup for one year. After that they will keep those in thier area of the stands under control!!!

Is it so hard to watch a NASCAR race without causing trouble?
There's enough crashes in NASCAR, we don't need any more safety hazards.
Good decision on the ban, hopefully they'll keep enforcing it and other tracks will follow this example.
