The outcome prediction was easy for this game. I thought Boomer picked it close. 31-21 he predicted ... 29 -17 was close enough. Simple assessment defense vs the offence. Colts Off vs. Bears Def. ... Colts has the slight advantatge coming into the game. But Payton had to have a good day. Instead it was so so ...but the big difference was the Colts Def vs Bears Off... we all know that was easy ...the Colts by a mile.
In the club where we were watching ... the Bears Fans were celebrating as if they had won, when the KOR by Hester happened. The Colts Fans were all shocked, but I said it aint over until the Fat Lady sings ...one guy quickly jumped up and bet me $50 ... so I took his money...lol.
It might have turned out a little different if the rain had kept coming down.

I'm from Illinois and I hate to say it but the Bears deserved to lose. They played a crappy game. UGH! That offense! I guess we'll have to wait another 20 years before we can get excited about the Super Bowl again.
What was that strange pre-game show all about?! The half time show was good. I thought Prince was great with the weather being what it was.

The NFL is going to get in touch with middle-America again when they realize that it's mostly men that watch the game, and Men like to see the cheerleaders bouncing around for more than 10 seconds covered by beer logos.
Men don't want to see the talking-head yip-yips, men don't want to see players on the bench saying, "Hi Mom," and posing for the cameras. Men don't want to see a worried coach walking up and down the sidelines.
Men want the stupid camera-men to wipe off the rain-coated camera lenses, and show us some cheerleaders!
Men want the NFL to stop being ruled by men-hating feminists, and show us a half-time show that doesn't confuse the younglings as to their sexual identity.
Men want the FCC to stop being ruled by men-hating feminists.
Men want less commercials for stuff we'll never be able to afford, so that we can at least have a bit of vicarious enjoyment by watching cheerleaders bounce up and down the sidelines for more than ten seconds per game.
Amen.

Nothing sad about it. I do realize that the Television set is a focal point for group congregations... more so than Church. Television is the new God, or anti-God if you will.
And in the future if we lose the ability to harness electricity, we'll gather around campfires once more and learn the lost art of conversation.

Well here in Germany with troops just having come back from downrange ...we thought the half time show was okay. In addition, we thought Prince was brave as hell to be playing his electric guitar and using the wireless Shure Mics in the RAIN!!! As for a demonic and Porno half time show, what show were you watching??? We saw Prince. Damn did we miss the Porno??? What a rip off for the military.

I'm still confused as to how the Bears even made it to the Super Bowl. They started off great, then their offense took the field and it looked like their special teams had to win the game for them.
Didn't see the pre-game show.
The half-time show was a joke, man. The whole Janet Jackson boob-flash-scene backlash by minority-pretenders and women and "sensitives" and nude hating people evolved to create a half-time show hosted by the most ambigiously non-sexual being on our planet (i.e. Prince).
Last time, parents worried that their kids might ask them questions about female anatomy... or worse... a white guy that wanted a black gal (*hush* *shock and surprise*).
So the FCC one-up'd everyone by making sure there were no gender-specific parts on this years' host(ess).
Big LOL

LOL ...Great Star!!! Ha ha ha...
The Bears did not deserve to be in the Super Bowl. It should've been the Saints. They should play all semi finals in a covered dome with a grass field. Then it will be the best team that wins, instead of one that is won on luck.
It would've been a very hard game to pick versus the Saints. However, I am extremely glad for Tony Dungee. Especially after the screwing over he got from the Buccaneers organization. John Gruden got that Superbowl only because of the work Dungee had done with that team. Gruden didn't do anything at Oakland, and he hasn't done anything at Tampa since he got the Bowl win with Dungees team.

there`s about a half dozen NFC teams that would have beaten the Bears today too.
The coaching was awful, on offense and defense. Offense, totally predictable, except for those fumbles and the interceptions of course. Defense played a two-minute prevent almost the whole game - so the Colts run a draw or throw it underneath for 8~12 yards a play, as long as they don`t throw the deep ball who cares, right? Wrong.

I live in Chicago - the fumbles, sacks and interceptions were predictable too

Actually it was a cover two and at times a cover four ...which leaves the flats and middle zone underneath open. The Bears gambled on taking away the long threat, thinking that Urlacher could take care of underneath. Also, in the Cover 2, the OLB knows that if the #2 reciever does a fade or up pattern, he should immediately check the #1 on an inside route.

Bottom Line: Rex Grossman has been overrated since college, if not earlier.
The ONLY reason he was a Heisman Hopeful was because he had three sick receivers in college where he could throw the ball as far as he could and the receivers would run past the defenders and catch whatever duck he threw up. Period.

In order to slow down the Indy front four, the Bears had to establish a quick inside running game. Then having done that, they could've have gone to play action plays. They should have also had twins formations and had Grossman throwing three (3) step patterns... going for 5 yds max. Once Indy started pulling down the coverage, then he could rotate his verticle and horizontal attacks easier. But that's all moot now...

Did anyone take my advice about the Colts winning by 10 points?
Turns out they won by 12 points.
I wish I'd have listened to my own advice.
I called it.

The rain was the factor that hurt the Bears'. The Colts showed the adaptability required in a winning football team. They were playing in the moment during the entire game. The Bears walked in with expectations without reading that changes had to be made.
Regarding, the half-time show, [the most villifyied part of the superbowl experience] I must honestly say it was generally tolerable and the most tasteful I've seen in years.
Prince, was subdued in the theatrical sex antics of years gone by. The dancers/back up singers were, although attractive, not naked and simulating every sexual encounter they could think of. He just played a medly of past dance numbers that were recognizable but more like a distant memory.

The commercials were not as plentiful or as imaginitive as some past Bowl games. Yet, I'd submit my three favorite as follows: 1) The Snickers bar "kiss" 2) The Budwiser "dalmation" 3) the office workers battle scene for the Career finding outfit that bought the ad.
For entertainment my family and I enjoyed last night. My chili ruled!

What may I interpet your commets to mean star poet? I didn't blame the rain I said it was a factor. Do you honestly think that all the fumbles and poor snaps that occured during the game were chalked up to ineptitude?
Well, that's a problem for you. See I was sharing thoughts about the superbowl as many others here are doing. You can only strut out in every topic and try to turn it into an argument.
Not every topic on netscape is a fight, sometimes we can just sit back and share our observations as a thinking community. I hope you learn this it will make you a more enjoyable member to interact with.
I'm sorry your Bears lost. There's always next year.

F DA BEARS IN DA A! Rex Grossman proved himself in that game. He proved that the media and everyone outside of Chicago was right, he is a choke artist and he sucks. Rex Grossman: 2 Fumbles Lost, 2 INT's. HAHAHAHA I HATE YOU CHICAGO! I HATE YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART! THANK GOD FOR PEYTON MANNING AND THE COLTS!

I'm a Bears fan since birth so when I say this, it really hurts. They stink!!!! It's time to admit a mistake with Grossman. I've seen better QB on high school teams.
Fire Rex!!!
Rain??? You've never been to Chicago in the winter. Rain isn't a problem. FIRE REX!!! Then again if Chicago gets a real QB Green Bay will want on too.

I completely agree Teagan. I've been a Colts fan a long time, and when they got Peyton I was pumped cause I'm also UT alum. Grossman wasn't that good of QB in college and maybe another year there would have helped him. As far as arguing that the rain didn't help. I would agree with that but I was thinking the Colts would end up losing and not winning because of the rain. The Bears play in the rain and snow and bad weather all the time so they had no excuse.

"Rain??? You've never been to Chicago in the winter. Rain isn't a problem".
No, I've never been to Chicago but I'd like to one day. Tell me more about your kind of rain. Is it less wet? Have you folks evolved to a point that you can negate the scientic fact that water reduces friction?
See, I don't feel you know much about working outside in the elements doing various jobs. For one example I was a tent setter for five years, there wind, New England rain, and soil conditions have a bearing on how you go about getting a job done.
Of course, we're talking about a football game, ever go out with friends and play some backyard ball the snow, mud, or rain had a lot to do with how much our play was effective but not our fun. Wish you could be a little friendlier my cousin said Chicago was a great place with nice people.

First off, where I am, I'd love to see rain, snow or anything else. I'd really like to be at home for winter. It's hot and sunny most of the time, then again, we do have car bombs, IED's and the like.
As to your cheap shot and Chicago, we're very friendly. On weather, by this time, we have snow and sub-zero but very little rain. As to fumble fingers, if he was a real man, a little rain wouldn't be a problem. I'm a girl and even I know he's a joke. God help his wife....After last night the Colts should have named him their MVP. The man failed in the big game. He cracked under pressure. They've got a pretty good team, get a real QB and there's a good chance they'd be there next year. With him, it would be like going to war with an accordion or the French as an ally.

dwight freeney didnt do anything. rex grossman killed the bears offense single handedly. 4 TURNOVERS BY REX GROSSMAN! with numbers like that the defense doesnt have to try. 2 of them were fumbles cause he doesnt know how to handle a ball and 1 of the interceptions was thrown straight to the defender.

I was disappointed to see the Bears give up at the end. With a little under two minutes left they threw short passes in the middle of the field rather than sideline routes to get out of bounds and stop the clock. While unlikely, it's possible they could have scored a quick touchdown, recovered an on-sides kick, and scored again on a Hail Mary. Even if not, it would've been a more exciting ending to the game if they at least tried.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I was going to post the very same concern. It was truly disappointing to see the Bears just throw in the towel. I was rooting for the Colts, but the Bears still had a chance and I was hoping they'd at least believe they could do it.
It doesn't take two minutes to score two touch-downs. It can take only 65 seconds.

It really did not matter as to who would win the SB, but all I was hoping for was an exciting game and it was far from it. SB stood for "super boring" IMO. With that said congrats to the Colt's being that a "W" is a "W" although watching this SB was as exciting as getting a tooth pulled IMO. Hopefully it will be a more exciting match-up next year but the rain really put a damper on things being that neither team was able to show thier true explosiveness and add more excitement to the game. Oh well it happens.

Prince's performance was one of the best performances I have ever seen at a half time show. Especially a Super Bowl one. For those who didn't like it, who do you recommend? Ashley Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, The Beatles, Paul McCartney all suck in these abbreviated performances. Prince rocked the house.

LOL ... Billy Joel has never been able to sing. The only reason he sang... in his own words "...was because I couldn't convince a singer with a reputation to sing my songs. So I decided to do it myself."
Since you're the only one to have noticed it besides myself, have you ever been involved with music?

I am so glad the bears lost - just for their fans. Some of the signs about katrina and comments made to saints fans at the conference game prove that the average bears fan is a total idiot. The saints would have played the colts a much better game and propably would have gotten to the SB if not for the poor, one-sided officiating.

They weren't booing, they were chanting "Moose!"
I used to think people were booing Luc Robtaille when he played for the Kings back when, but they were just chanting "Luc! Luc!" I had to ask my friend, who set me straight.
It's easy to see why it sounds like booing, though.

Chicago has never been great when it came to the QB. When they fire REX, let's hope they fire Michael McCaskey is bad too.
I seem to remember a pretty fair QB by the name of Jin McMahon that played for the Bears. They also had Jim Harbaugh at one time too, didn't they? He wasn't too shabby either.
