June 30, 2006, 9:13 a.m.Honestly, I'm not a huge soccer fan... but it's hard not to get caught up in it when watching the enthusiasm of the crowds. For these people soccer is THE sport.
Another point SI.com brings up about the Brazil-France match: it could be the last game for famous French player Zinedine Zidane.

July 1, 2006, 8:04 a.m.It causes me no surprise when an american says that is not a soccer fan. Everything is done to make it happen. Since the way we read the news about soccer on the newspapers until the way they show soccer on tv. Honestly, the american media makes no effort on developing their thecniques and their knowledge of the sport. There are stronger economic interests in America working hard to keep soccer away. But it something useless. The spanish community that lives in America loves the soccer. They go to the matches and cheer their teams. Children and the young people all over US are getting involved with the thrilling of playing the game. It is just a matter of time.
